2019 Natural Dye Workshop

The event celebrated our old two-burner propane cooker (1980’s vintage) and sent it off to the dump.  We had an assortment of natural dyes in a full range of colors.

This event was limited to 16 participants.

Instructor Becky Blake asked participants to bring skeins of yarn, or fiber in net bags, weighing up to 2 oz each.  Each participant could bring up to a pound of fiber/yarn.  There was at least one yellow & one red pot that used Bancroft’s Mordant in the Pot method, not requiring a pre-mordant.  This was for protein fibers only. Fibers & yarns (both cellulose & protein) to be dyed in indigo did not need a mordant.
